PPO Powered Events

At Blooming Futures, we have recently powered a number of events across the country using our Pure Plant Oil powered generator.  We have also been able to press oil on site using our mobile seed press, making it possible to do the first UK demonstration of powering an event using plant seeds.

Tax break for small users confirmed

As of the 1st of July people using less than 2500 liters of PPO a year do not have to register or pay road fuel duty on their fuel.
Confirmation has been received from HMRC which makes the lowest impact road fuel option economically viable for small users of fuel.
2500 liters of fuel equates to roughly 25 000 miles of driving a year and with a 42p a liter saving represents a £1050 annual fuel bill saving meaning a pay back in around 1.5 years.

David James Ex Engalnd Goal keeper now drives on PPO

Mr. James has made the wise choice to modify his vehicle to run on PPO making it one of the greener motors on the road. While it may be a large engined vehicle it still represents one of the best environmental choices for green conscious drivers today - a car that runs on locally grown, locally produced English Pure Plant Oil. Unlike other biofuels PPO is sourced only from the UK and does not lead to exotic habitat destruction.

Ex Formula 1 champion and Leading Organic farmer Jody Scheckter has had his first Tractor converted

We are honoured to be working alongside Mr Sheckter and Laverstoke Park Farm with thier aims to deliver a centre of excellence for environmental farming. His decision to work with PPO will send a positive wave across the farming industry.

The tractor converted was a Fendt 714 and was converted with the new Elsbett medium sized twin tank system. It is one of the first tractors in the UK to be converted to run on PPO.

Friday 23rd of February The first single tank unit injector engine conversion

We are pleased to say we have completed the first VAG group PD engine conversion and we can now offer a single tank conversion for most 1.9TDI PD engines from the Volkswagen/Audi/Skoda/Seat group. The conversion inculdes a ECU upgrade which is completed in Germany. We are very happy with the conversion and even happier that we can now offer single tank conversions for the latest generation diesel engines.

Thursday 7th of December HMRC give PPO the Green Light

After several years of convoluted enforcement of policy it is now official - everyone can qualify for the 20p a litre tax break for Pure Plant Oil. It was clarified in the Pre-Budget report and a detailed response to the HMRC can be downloaded Here. Making it legal for everyone in the UK to self register and claim the lower duty rate on pure plant oil. The security of the tax break added to the extra financial incentive coming into effect in April 2008 through the Renewable Transport Fuels Obligation (RTFO) means a further 15p a litre - making a total diffferential of 35p from normal diesel. The additional 15p should make PPO available at well under the current price of diesel.

Proposed London Low Emission Zone (LEZ)- PPO a green and simple answer

The mayor of London is proposing a LEZ covering the whole of London all vehicles over 3.5 tonnes entering the LEZ must reach the EURO III standard for PM's. Diesel Engines converted to run on PPO have greatly reduced PM's and this could represent a considerable incentive to convert to PPO. In the proposal vehicles not meeting the standard wishing to enter London would have to pay a day pass fee of £100 and non compliant vehicles in the LEZ would recieve a £1000 fine (reduced to £500 if paid within 14 days) this is a heavy fine and incentive and one that PPO can offer a simple and cheap answer to. Converted vehicles often meet the PM EURO III standard and therefore qualify for free entry through the LEZ  they also run on PPO the lowest impact liquid transport fuel, which in 2008 will recieve both a 20p tax break and a 15p RTFO certificate making it a cheaper fuel to run. This represents a stick and a carrot approach and should encourage fast-thinking transport managers to get converted before 2008 where savings will be the greatest.
