waste oil quality
FUEL PROVIDED BY BLOOMING FUTURES MEETS THE V DIN 51 605 SPECIFICATION
WE WARN ALL USERS OF VEGETABLE OIL FUELS TO ENSURE THAT THE FUEL THEY USE IS OF A SUITABLE QUALITY AND ADVISE THE USE OF OIL THAT MEETS THE DIN 51 605 STANDARD AS THIS PROVIDES THE MOST COMPREHENSIVE FUEL QUALITY ANALYSIS. USE OF FUELS OF UNKNOWN QUALITY COULD LEAD TO ENGINE DAMAGE.

Many people are attracted to PPO due to its obvious cost savings. We only recommend fuel that reaches the DIN standard. While we are busy researching the use of used cooking oil as a fuel we have many concerns over processing used oil to a level where it is suitable for long term use in diesel engines. Used cooking oil can be very variable in quality. Water content, acidity and contamination are all major causes for concern.
We do not recommend the use of used cooking oil for those people wanting to avoid engine failure in the long term, unless they carefully address fuel quality issues.
We do recommend the use of locally grown cold pressed oil that meets the V DIN 51 605 standard. Oil to this standard is available tax paid at 91p per litre.
Cooking oil is generally produced using a heavy industrial process of solvent extraction oil produced using this method is normally refined to give it acceptable qualities. This oil has a much heavier environmental impact that oils produced using a cold pressing technique. Generally solvent extracted and refined rapeseed oil will meet DIN 51 605.
